We were invited to go check out the new Sam’s Club location in Raymore. They recently moved from Grandview to Raymore in order to reach out to more families and grow the club. This club was actually the second Sam’s Club in the nation to be built, and some of the employees were around many years ago when Mr. Sam was building it. How cool is that? The new club space offered 30,000 extra square feet in order to provide extra vendors, products and services.
If you’re not familiar with Sam’s Club, it is a warehouse club that offers quality, name-brand items and bulk items at discounted prices. Some familiar names include: The North Face, Ugg, Vera Bradley, Cole Haan, Kenneth Cole, Cartier, Nike, etc. The list goes on! You’ll be surprised how many awesome things you can find at such a lower price! For example, Vera Bradley diaper bags usually range from $109-118 but in the store, it was $84.98! What a difference! You can almost make up your membership in just one purchase! They also have many holiday items including decorations, toys, heaters, etc. From fresh croissants made right in the club to 2 carat diamond earrings, you can find just about anything!
The new Hearing Aid Center provides free hearing tests and screenings for those over 18 years of age with no obligation to buy. The warehouse club format has been one of the fastest-growing retail formats over from 2005 to today. The reason for this trend is clear: pound for pound, warehouse clubs offer members the best value for their money. In fact, Sam’s Club Members averaged savings of 33 percent vs. traditional retailers. Savings like these are possible because of the membership business model of the warehouse club.
The new pharmacy offers very competitive prices in prescription drugs and has a very personal feel. The pharmacist really likes to get to know her patients so make sure you introduce yourself! The pharmacy also offers free health screenings each month from January to October and the club will have a special health screening on the 8th and 9th of November. Immunizations are also provided in the club for influenza, pneumonia, shingles and meningitis.
The new club also has convertible cash registers. They always have self-checkout registers, but if for some reason, a staff member is needed on the floor, with the push of a button, the register spins around and can become a self-check out lane so customers don’t have to wait. No waiting is always a plus!
They also feature many different local vendors. While the vendors change from time to time, they are currently featuring Jack Stack Barbecue, PopCycle and many other local vendors.
The club manager, Desiree Rutledge, says, “The new Raymore club offers moms in our area more products and services than ever before. From a new Pharmacy offering great prices and quick service, to Home Meal Solutions providing a quick way to feed the whole family, we are a great location to check many items off of your list and find something extra for yourself.”
Home Meal Solutions (HMS), which are meals all ready for busy families. HMS are prepared and assembled in club so they are fresh! A couple of the options include chicken enchiladas and chicken fettuccine alfredo. Yum! You just pick them up from Sam’s, throw them in the oven and dinner is ready! Easy peasy! They range about $10 and feed approximately a family of four.
They also are offering a service called Click ‘n’ Pull. You get online and place your order by selecting all the things you want to buy as if you were in the store. As long as you place your order by 5:00 PM, you can pick your order up from the store the next day! They come in extra early just to pick for you! Then, they email you your confirmation that your order is complete. Arrive at the store and take your confirmation to the register to pay for your items and pick them up ready to go at Member Services. While you miss out on the free samples, you can get in and out without your shopping cart of screaming kids and can shop in the comfort of your sweatpants! Sounds like an excellent plan, especially for days when you know you’re going to be busy...or know they will probably be really busy! And it’s free - NO extra charge for this service! I LOVED this feature!

Finally, my kids favorite feature is their cafe! Hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, frozen yogurt, deli sandwiches and salads, and Icee’s, are all on the menu. They are quick, cheap, yummy and a good bribe for kids to behave while you shop. You can conveniently do grocery shopping and lunch at the same time.
