Just as a mighty tornado once whisked Dorothy away to the magical lands of Oz, Crown Center transports families on an enchanting journey to celebrate the 85th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz movie.
Put on your ruby red shoes and follow the yellow brick road to explore the Journey to Oz interactive exhibit. This FREE, family-friendly wonderland is only open through Sunday, May 5, so don’t miss the chance to experience it!
Step inside the exhibit and find yourself swept into the colorful land of the Munchkins. You’ll be greeted by the familiar faces of Dorothy, Toto, and Glinda the Good Witch. Along the way, you’ll encounter the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, and then follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City.
Use your imaginations to keep away from the Wicked Witch of the West and her Flying Monkeys. Peek behind the curtain to meet The Great and Powerful Oz, and see if you can make it back to Kansas in a hot air balloon.
After you click your heels together and chant “There’s no place like home!” you can then explore the rest of Crown Center:
- Enjoy lunch at Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant where you order by phone and an electric train delivers hamburgers and fries right to your table.
- Visit Sea Life Kansas City Aquarium and explore another amazing world – this one underwater and featuring more than 5,000 sea creatures, including sharks, stingrays, and rescued sea turtles.
- Stop by Topsy’s Popcorn Shoppe for a snack of their famous butter, cinnamon, cheese, or caramel popcorn. Or take a bag of popcorn home with you to enjoy as you watch The Wizard of Oz movie!
