Description
Presented in partnership with the Mattie Rhodes Center and the Crossroads Hotel Kansas City, this fiesta at the Crossroads Hotel's XR Café explores the history and cultural traditions of Día de los Muertos!
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them.
To celebrate this colorful tradition, guests will enjoy live mariachi entertainment followed by live music by Trio Aztlan/Aztlan-"Live." Band Page, puppetry by StoneLion Puppet Theatre, complimentary adult Day of the Dead face painting, specialty cocktails and bites.
Guests are also welcomed to participate in a community alter installation.
Everyone is invited, no tickets required, a portion of all sales between 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. will benefit the Mattie Rhodes Art Center.
Space is limited! So get there early, grab a drink and enjoy.
